Company History

The company was founded by Dr. Rodrigo and Mrs. Alice Villanueva together with five other incorporators in 1977. Each incorporator invested Php 8,500.00 each.

The corporate entity was named Am-Europharma Corporation because there as a school of thought amongst consumers and doctors in the '70s that multinational companies have better quality. Therefore, it was decided to combine both words "Am" derived from the word American and "Euro" from the word European (Am-Euro) giving the company a multinational sounding name and image allowing it to get its foot into the customers' doors.

The company started its operations in a small garage residence in Marcelo Green Village, Paranaque City where they set-up a simple liquid manufacturing line. Operations started with just a handful of employees.

From its humble beginnings, it then transferred its operations to Anacleto Street, Bambang, Sta. Cruz, Manila where the company was able to further expand its pharma manufacturing capabilities into tablet and capsule lines.

Back then, the company was active in supplying medicines to the government through the Department of Health.

In the 1990s, the company became a 100% family-owned corporation by the Villanuevas.

The husband and wife tandem became more aggressive by expanding and transferring its operations to a bigger facility located in Km. 16 West Service Road, Paranaque City. Its operations became more complex due to the increased number of products developed and registered.

As the years went by, there were more businesses gained through bid tenders in various government channels as well as commercial sales via generic wholesale distribution. These sales avenues were the drivers of growth for the company.

In 2005, due to the increasing demands of the market as well as the upgraded regulatory compliance requirements of the Food and Drug Administration the company transferred its full operations to bigger complex with improved manufacturing capabilities located in Brgy. Saimsim, Calamba City Laguna where it is now situated today.

Since its inception in 1977, Am-Europharma Corporation's vision is to adhere International Standards.

In line with this vision, the company gives focus on expanding its technical capabilities in manufacturing through facilities enhancement, product innovation projects, quality assurance compliance, manufacturing process improvements and personnel technical trainings.

In the year 2014, Am-Europharma Corporation had another major milestone achieved. The company entered into a business alliance with RiteMED Phils., Inc., a member of the United Laboratories Group.

This made the company decide to change its business model from being a manufacturer of branded and generic pharmaceutical products for its own requirement to a full-fledged toll manufacturer.

With this approach, the company has opened its manufacturing facility and capabilities to various Principals who are in need of a toll manufacturer of their requirements on pharmaceuticals, food supplements, and to include pharma-grade veterinary products.

The company devotes its efforts and activities in compliance with the Pharmaceutical Inspection Co-operation Scheme Good Manufacturing Practice (PIC/S GMP) as directed by the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Regular technical training is provided to its personnel to ensure proper information and knowledge transfer keeping its people abreast with the latest developments and practices in the industry.

Am-Europharma Corporation is continuously working in accordance with the standards to be able to participate internationally in the world market making it compete, head-on, with the other local and international toll manufacturing companies today.
